I confess that alstroemerias are not my favourite but Indian Summer caught my impulsive nature and “click” I bought it online :noidea:
It has been potted on, so yes Snorky, it should do well in a container, but it will be planted in a corner where it’s invasive nature can be controlled. A brash in your face plant I think but attractive :)
In a container, it will need John innes ...number 3 I suggest....with added grit or perlite. :)

I came across alstroemeria a couple of years ago whilst doing research on line. That was late in the year and there was nothing available locally. By the next summer I had found something else to fill the space.

Indian Summer seems to be ubiquitous. As I already plenty of bright colours in my garden , i went for a more subtle variety.

I apologise for the light contrast. You would expect 6pm on the longest day to be considerably brighter than it turned out to be.

The variety is Miss Christine. It should look like this.

Apart from Indian Summer most GCs are only selling dwarf varieties now mainly for containers and patios.

It was the dark foliage I went for with Indian Summer. A bit unusual for alstromerias and I’m always on the look out for coloured, variegated and dark foliage plants. :)

May I say. For the avid gardener/proporgator, the genus begonia really is a must. It offers just about everything one could ask for.

I'm so pleased with the dahlias I've grown from seed this year. They're lovely! A variety called Yankee Doodle Dandy. There's still a few to show their colour but if they're anything like the ones that have already bloomed I'll be over the moon. I've had a go at Zinnias too this year, They've sulked a bit since being planted out from their 9cm pots and I think one has given up the ghost, but they're starting to show their faces now. Many years ago I used to grow what was known as Collarette Dahlias from seed every year.
They always did well, yours look really good @Joolz
