Last summer my pot of watsonia did nothing. This year they are putting up lots of spikes. Here is the first. I think it is Michael Wickenden's 'Best Red' WatsoniaSm.jpg

I do like Watsonia, not sure why, I think its that pollen, a different colour to the flower.
Mines not showing any sign of flowering yet.

Cardiocrinum in flower - it would have looked better if the lily beetles hadn't found it...
I think this is the yunannense version since it isn't tall and has red throat cardiocrinum2Sm.jpg

Many thanks, @shiney. That Campanula is well-named  Your pruning technique must be spot-on judging by the floriferousness of your shrubs :dbgrtmb:

Thanks, but no real techniques and I put it down to talking to them nicely. The Deutzia doesn't get pruned unless some of it gets in the way. Others are usually left to do their own thing and only get pruned if they look unhappy. Other plants are left to do their own thing and many of them are self seeded and not disturbed unless we need the space.

Currently we're overrun by Campanula (white and different blues) and must, literally, have thousands of them. They're in almost every bed, and flop down over paths and driveway and this is quite typical of the self-seeded ones
              P1480528.JPG

Almost everyone that comes to visit gets some of them dug up (if they want it) or goes away with a bunch of them for their vase - together with whatever else is in abundance. The self-seeded nodding (or quaking) grass is also popular for flower arrangements

I agree, KFF, but I am putting that down to, as I mentioned, it being the first season and being grown only this year from root cuttings and so even the size of the flowers were only a least a third of the normal size. Patty's Plum is usually a deeper and more "metallic" colour and is one of my favourite perennial poppies. Hopefully, next year, when the three of them in the borders are established they will show their full size and colour.:cat-kittyandsmiley::coffee:

A rather nice calla lily that I'm hoping will self-sow like the pinks and whites. 20200602_142849.jpg
