Why plant one climber when two or more will fit?

I love Salvia as they love my climate. Bur I cannot buy these named varieties ... I can buy blue or pink. I got my couple of named varieties as plug plants from Spain.

An unusual pic for this thread perhaps, but this is some of the cotton grass from the pond, blown by the wind and attaching itself to some plants - in this case, some Verbena bonariensis. 111_0426.JPG

Yesterday afternoon, I came round from the front of the house just in time to see a sparrow flying up from the cotton grass in the pond with some in it's beak

Where am I going wrong with this, Strongy? I put the latest one in what passes for dampish shade here but it's a shadow of it's former self. A previous one fizzled out in a dryer, sunnier spot  Any tips?

Lychnis are just starting to flower. Both the red and white ones grow and spread like weeds and we're always digging them out

Leycesteria formosa are just starting to flower. We have them in shades from almost white to dark red. This flower will end up about four time this length

Another plant that spreads everywhere is Verbascum chaixii and is just starting to flower. We have many dozens of them - possibly hundreds. The bees love them

The rhubarb bed is just coming back to life and should be cropping well in a couple of weeks. Four of the plants have reached this size but the others are way behind.

Part of our wild area. I shall be cutting it down next week, apart from the areas where wild flowers are just starting to flower, as the grasses have seeded earlier than usual and we're trying to keep them from infesting the beds

Alstromeria. You can see that lots of our plants are just left to grow wild and intermingle. That's mainly because we don't have enough time to keep things under control :heehee:

I don't think Indian Summer is as hardy as some Alstromerias.
