LoL, Melaleuca come in similar colours to Callistemon, red, pink, white, cream etc, the flower is quite small, only about three inches long, so not as big as most Callistemon flowers.
I suppose if I put a pic up of my salmon pink Callistemon I'll have more people dsliking me but I'm immune to it. :D

This cactus came as a tiny half inch 'shoot' which i got free in a purple wandering sailor pot from a charity shop about 7 years ago. I'm sure it's not an unusual variety or anything - but it stuns me with these vibrant flowers at this time of year.

Love it, Pal, so natural looking, unlike my structured garden. I remember your Love in a Mist from last year ... a lovely flower which grows wild here.

Lovely pics everyone. I can't say my garden has really got going yet. Can I make a plea for people to add a little information, if they can, to their pictures. ie what it is, is it easy to grow, easy to propagate, long flowering etc. I love looking at the beautiful pictures, but it is also nice if you can learn a bit as well.

Paladin - that is an absolutely cracking colour in your last picture. Is that Gladiolus communis byzantinus? I am trying to grow some from seed - but they won't germinate. Does it thrive and expand once you have got some bulbs established.

[IMG] Have to agree JarBax those Aquilegas are beautiful.
    Love your garden Pal.
Hope you enjoyed the wedding Stingo.

Just thought I would post this picture of the Cordialine Australius flower currently showing itself all over the UK at the moment,is it any wonder the Bumble Bee seeks out this sweet smelling flower as it's scent wafts across our patio's on these glorious summer evenings.

Hi Peter..I rescued them several years ago from next door when a non gardener type moved in...I was so pleased when a couple flowered after four years and now, seven years later, they are popping up every where.
I have been here for twenty seven years and my garden is still developing. I'm not one for moving plants if they appear in the wrong place, instead I expand borders and let them fill with whatever wants to grow there and is strong enough to survive.
I could dig out a bulb or two if you want Peter..let me know!

Paladin, i will save you some - but who know what they will turn out like, as I have a great mixture in the garden! PM me your details.

Your love in the mist is fabulous! I only have a couple of sprigs this year - will be saving every seed, and going for a recreation of your border for next year!

Stingo - that is one sumptuous paeony (?). I really must make room for one!

Will have to look out for a Cordialine Australius. Anything with a sweet scent is alright with me!

Paladin - thank you - thats a very kind offer. I might just take you up on that. But perhaps I ought to wait and see if my seeds germinate first.

Curiously, Gladiolus communis is one that I see in every picture of borders in famous gardens (Christopher Lloyd used to rave about it), but I have never seen it for sale.

Now this is what I call a Floribunda, no idea of it's name, we just call it the pink'un cos we know the names of the other pink ones. Any clues welcome, only grows to about 3'6" tall.

Phyllis bide, a pretty little climber.

This Gallardia pokes its head up between the Pink'uns flower heads.
