The Korean Fir (Abies Koreana) that we had before we moved was on a south facing aspect, which I think helped it to grow well.

Within a few years of planting it, it had produced its first cones, which was the most fantastic of colours.

Ours used to produce cones every year once it got going. We always made sure it was well watered.

My only gripe I have is that I never took any photo's of it, which would have been nice to look back on.Now I am taking photo's of everything growing in this garden

Fran - thanks for the info. it's such a nice flower I was thinking of using it elsewhere in the garden as it does not seem to 'flop' too badly.

Acnistus, you need to be able to walk underneath to see the flowers best, this is over the archway to the allotment.

Some nice flowering climbers there pete.

Phlomis is quite tropical and leafy if you have a spot. Growing today at the foot of my nicely gnarled fig.

Which acacia is that BM, your phlomis reminds me of Leonotis, which is a pain as it flowers so late. I might give it a go. ;)

It is very bright at the moment and is making small delicate bright or white difficult to micro zoom in on. Or it might just be me :(

Thinking the same as Pete, very late for a Dealbata, usually over by april, would even be late for a Pravissima. It looks very green not grey/green could it possibly be Decurrens or a hybrid? [IMG]

I thought the flower colour was a bit pale as well.
Or could that just be the photo?
