Our first attempt at growing Hellebore, we've started with just four of them for now and hope they will thrive and multiply :)

And another thing looking good in the garden is all the lovely birds, I could spend hours watching them. We had a wood pigeon gathering huge twigs and flying off with them, he looked so funny. And we had goldfinches which we hadn't seen for a few months so that was nice to see them today.

During the bad snow we even had our first sighting of fieldfare, eating all the berries on our honeysuckle hedge.

Having good look around, it appears that I haven't lost anything despite everything being coated in ice for two days. Just the browning of the Acacia and Sophora damage, quite a relief
The Enstete Maurelii which survived -7c last winter in the ground and left in again has survived the last week with just a fleece bag over it, it should have died.:rolleyespink:

I bought a batch of twelve of the same , also from Hayloft around three-years ago . They too have shrugged off the Siberian blast and are in full flower as normal . I cannot fault them ; excellent and totally reliable perennials .

Some of the blubs I dug out of the compost turned out to be little daffodiles :)

That's good to know, John. As I mentioned elsewhere, the seedlings from my original 3 doubles are all coming single, but perhaps they weren't Ellen ones! Will be planting the new Hayloft ones well away from any singles!:fingers crossed:

did you hear the Doves in the beginning. walked by them sitting in my almond tree and they startled away. while I was down there, filled the bird feeder. today, the snow is frozen over with ice. not fluffy anymore. hope the roads are good, have to venture out.
