I grow freesias over winter, cold greenhouse, to flower around Easter. Then after the foliage dies down, the bulbs are lifted and kept in the shed over the summer where they get a good bake, replant in autumn and move to greenhouse when growing before worst frosts. Nearly got caught out in December.
The one year I didn't get flowers was after a particularly cool dull summer.

Freesia scent some colours are more scented than others, plain yellow single is good, doubles tend to be less scented in my experience.

They're very variable here in a sheltered border. Some years they're in flower at Christmas and other years it's March or even April. The most highly-coloured ones have the least scent.

One from yesterday. Weather too horrible to take more photos today. Roll on some warmer sunny days.

Geranium tuberosum this hardy geranium is dormant over summer and then comes back from tubers; in Turkey the tubers are eaten.

I have been growing kale redbor for a few years and leave some to grow to 3 or 4 foot tall just for winter colour. Here is one of them earlier today.
