        Rhododendron impeditum, which is already past its 'days of glory', but the other members of this group are coming in waves...

        Rhododendron 'Percy Wiseman', which starts in raspberry bud, flowers initially in shades of pale pink and reaches full bloom in vanilla to pale green.[IMG]

          It's nice to see so many Aquiligia out there.
          Anyone else noticed if there Aquiligia are tall this year. A number of mine are close to flowering and are standing about 2.5' tall. I'm certain they were shorter in previous years.

              gcc, they're definitely taller this year. Last year they were particularly short but this year some of ours are getting close to 4ft :hate-shocked:.

              Last year we were still in hot dry conditions whereas this year they've had lots of water.

              The Solomon's Seal is also a lot bigger than last year.

                Unfortunately, the yellow tree peony is dropping all it's buds :sad:

                  Lovely piccies thank you. What is behind the poppy with the same colour ladybird in it? Very clever camouflage!!
                  Any idea why the tree peony is dropping buds?
                  You must be very frustrated by it. Imagine that - ready for Chelsea!!

                  Jenny, it's one of the calendula family (marigold).

                  I think the yellow peony is dropping it's buds because of the weather. Hopefully some of them may survive.

                  My Aquilegias are stunning this year and some are definitely tall, some are at 3ft+ and still very sturdy

                  Here's my stunning blue and white one in full flow now, love it;

                  Last week I posted a pick of deep purple coloured Aquilegia with a double flower; its neighbouring plant looked like being the same but now that its opened its a semi-double of the same colour - stunning (these are the ones that are very tall);

                  Also in flower this week is this simply but very bright and cheerful poppy;

                    The new garden has a few nice surprises!

                    Not sure, but I think that this small flower is Saxifraga urbium.
