Dunno! All I can offer is that the clumps are circa 4 years old - they looked scrawny in the first year or two.

I'm actually more proud of my Delphiniums this year ... although I forgot to take a photo of the main clumps, if the sun comes back out (and the rain hasn't wrecked them!!) I'll take a photo.

Oops! Turns out I did take another Delphinium photo:

They must be 8' tall or more :) The white ones on the right are growing up through a Solanum laciniatum that is in flower already - normally the frost kills that and I have to plant a fresh seedling, and it is then August-ish before it flowers.

I have been a bit slap-happy with fertiliser this year - never done that before, and either that clearly shows, or the mild winter / moist Spring has helped significantly. I'm using a balanced Growmore, but it is strong (came from the local farmer - cheaper that way :) ). I reckon I use 2 or 3 buckets each time (I have a big garden, so don't know how that translates?? but a bucket would be about 10kg plus allow for the fact that Farmer's Stuff is probably 50% stronger than 10:10:10), and I must have done it 3 times this season - a "modest" handful around each plant.

After a night of torrential rain, which has continued on and off all day, I squelched round the garden with the camera, looking for a few shots to brighten up the gloom.

The rain did at least produce some good 'droplet effects' on some plants.
