My Choisya 'Sundance' that needed the kiss of life. It had been broken down and buried on it's side under snow at Easter last year. I thought it wouldn't recover but after some heavy pruning and support to bring it upright it's now almost back to it's old self! :)

Great to see your Choisya looking so well. I remember your amazing photos of your "small"!!!! fall of snow last year and the resulting damage. I too really like your blue and white Lupin Sheal, is it really that blue in reality? I've grown some meant to be fancy Lupins from seed recently but will have a wait before I know what colours they will be.

Silu....it's funny how we get attached to certain plants and I was determined to save the Choisya. When I posted the picture I'd taken today I felt quite emotional, daft isn't it! :)

The colour on the blue Lupin is almost spot on although it does have a slight mauve hue to it. I saved seeds last year but they didn't germinate, I don't think I'd let the seeds mature enough. I'll save more this year and if they look any good there may be some on offer. :)

There was a "blue" one on the TV coverage of Chelsea. They said it was Blue too. Great I thought, "I'll have one/several of them" ... went to the stand at Chelsea to check for myself - guess what? not what your or my idea & definition of Blue would be

Its fairly Blue ... but some mauve creeping in there too. The sort of Blue flowers that I want (maybe you are as/not so fussy?) are ones that don't start, or end, at some mauve/purple colour which, alongside flowers in full-flood, look a mess - to my eye anyway.

For someone wanting a mix of colours I expect it's fine, but I want "just Blue" :)

              Here's some photos I took:

              They were Red :)

So were they - in fact I think that is the best Red that I grow here (or perhaps "The Page" or whatever it is called is my best Red)

Liked the dark Maroon on that one.

Here's a different "cropped area" from the Beefeater photo above, showing the "Blue" Lupins. The camera colour is not "Honest", but I reckon its a pretty good rendition of the shade I remember they looked like.

This is Beefeater here - overcropped from the photo, so not a good quality likeness. I'll take a photo tomorrow if the sun comes out before the flower fade - or wash away!!

EDIT: Would you LOOK at that Nettle! I'll hoike him out tomorrow - not noticed it until now!!

Indeed! Although the camera is lying a bit, they were more blue in the flesh ... still "somewhat mauve" though ...

Kristen, those irises you dug out do have a mauvy hue to them but we've just had some others bloom that are a real, light, blue. If they spread (just a small patch at the moment) I'll get one out for you - remind me in the spring.

I'll try and take a photo of it but blues don't come out well as I don't have any filters for my camera nowadays.

Thanks @shiney ... darker blue is what I am after, and the ones that were in flower were a lovely colour. Let's see how the ones you kindly gave me shape up?
