@"M" It certainly was in stealth mode. :) Mrs Shiney thought she had put all the 'black' irises in her not for sale area. She must have missed one. :noidea: Her comment was 'you lucky booger'! :snork:

These little butes popped up on my allotment last year and already flowering so a true biennial. Echium wildpretii....they vary a little so may be crossed with piniana..:dunno:

My wife got her plot recently and I found this in the hedge potless, a little sparse but I quite like it !

Glad you like it, Upsydaisy. It's not, to me, like ordinary Hollies, the leaves are stiffer, and the curled variegated leaves give it "attitude". It's also very hardy, slow growing and will probably as a shrub get to about 4 feet in height.
I love it, I can't put my finger on it, but I love it:heehee:

                            Wow!!

Looking through these photos, I realise how behind we are here. We've normally caught up and overtaken the UK by now, but not this year. Our fruit trees were all flowering 3-4 weeks earlier than normal - i.e. early April, but then that hard frost put the brakes on big-time. I've got trees that had their initial leaf growth totally burnt off, wisteria totally defoliated - I may even have lost two...

Our first rose is about to flower, but day lilies are still pushing out foliage, with no ideas about flowers yet. Same with the geraniums...

Got a couple of clematis in flower - loving Miss Bateman

The first time we've had a good display...

My welsh poppies finally settled into their new country!

This rhododendron flowers spectacularly each year - flowers wider than your hand!

This Abutilon hybrid bloom started to form way back in November of last year. The plant is tucked up against the house wall and the bud just sat there until a few weeks ago when it started growing again..............
