Hi @Tetters - is that gorgeous purple incurve a pyrethrum?
@Logan - yes normal hippeastrum don't have any scent. My theory is that it is actually a hybrid of
Hippeastrum x johnsonii, which is apparently scented. I have a bulb of x johnsonii that hasn't yet flowered, so we'll see when it does!

Do you give them any sort of winter protection? I have a few (C.citrina) year old seedlings coming along which I hope to plant out.

It was labelled Tanacetum coccineum 'Robinsons Red' .....but we all know that`s just the posh name for Pyrethrum roseum

There's nothing pretty to see in my new garden as yet but one of my pines is overloaded with cones this year.

I haven't got any roses yet, a few weeks to go.
But here's a wild foxglove growing in between the patio slabs.

Agreed - Verbascum phoeniceum to be precise. @Snorky85 - if you like Verbascum give V.olympiacum a go. Here's one at Oxfords Botanic Gardens last year................

Mine won't be that good but it should still put a good display on. Dead easy from seed.

I haven't given them any protection so I have lost several citrinus Splendens over the years as they can just about take -5c with minimal damage but -7c killed them off, also citrinus White Anzac croaked.
Callistemons, salignus pallidus, seiberi, Inferno, Perth Pink, Viminalis Hot Pink and laevis have all taken -7c for a few nights two years running with none or hardly any damage.

Thanks @KFF and @longk ! You're spot on-thanks very much. Sometimes I just completely forget the name of plants and about a week later it'll come back to me. I love the pretty colours. If mine grows as big as the one in the picture i'll be v happy :)

It won't as it is a different species. I got my seed from Chiltern Seeds.
