@zilly @Tetters Buddleja colvilei was the first species buddleja I bought; it was because it was so unbuddleja like that it attracted me. I've now got a range of species Buddleja that flower from early spring to autumn and range in colour from white through yellow, pink, red to purple.

I find this so interesting Nigel. How hardy are these species plants? Do they have the same appeal to butterflies? Are they as easy to propagate? Would they be tough enough to cope out on a big site without protection?

Some of the 'roots in a bag' Hostas from Poundland a few year ago, fill the side entrance border every summer.

:ThankYou:@NigelJ ....I don`t know, blink, and you miss stuff.
I have only really grown the varieties that we propagated at the nursery - a long time ago now...mostly davidii and some globosa (which I found a bit weak and weedy) - and alternifolia, which was always the earliest to flower here - and with a heavy, almost unbearably heavy scent.

A few pretties brightening up a dull and very wet day. Far too wet to be digging in the garden unfortunately
