Part of the veg plot. The CD's work well as a pigeon deterrent. They obviously don't like my choice of music

Cytisus battandieri (pineapple tree) is just starting to flower. It will be smothered in the flowers and they do smell a bit of pineapple.

I almost feel like making an album of all of the pictures here and labeling it "My Wish Book" ! I haven't got any flower photos to share. Everything is still behind where we usually are with flowering although my peonies are starting to look promising!

        Thanks for sharing :)

@pete What is the first picture with pom poms please? How cute, the halos on the second picture. No comment on the third picture. Love all the daisies and particularly the colours on the last.

PS What is the white and blue one?

Lori, garden centres over here sell tiny cuttings of bedding plants from about february onwards for you to buy and pot on and grow on until around May when frost is hopefully gone.
And then you can plant them into tubs and pots and get an early start on the stuff in the garden.

It would be good if you could do that kind of thing and give you some early interest right after the last frost.

No1 is cordyline australis in flower.
                  No2 is Mammillaria zeilmanniana
No 3 is Echinocereus I dunno what? grew it from seed in 1987 and its getting long in the spine now, as you can see.
No4 is you tell me, I cant remember but it flowers like that all summer if I dead head it.
                  No5 is hardy Osteospermum.
the last two are both tender Osteospermum.

I could buy a bunch of annuals right now that have flowers because they are brought out for sale by the middle of May but they really are not cheap if you want enough to fill a garden. I figure they must start theirs before Christmas, judging from the size!

Lots of these posts look like they would be considered annuals here but are perennials over there. Being possibly several zones colder might have something to do with it. :heehee: Lots don't have their zone listed and I'm not familiar with all the towns and regions over there.

Even the photo comp, I can't even put a "rating" as I really don't know what is tender over there and then showing up again, being surprisingly hardy for overwintering. All a bit confusing so I just admire and keep "my mouth" shut!

@CanadianLori , I dont give my hardiness zone because I dont think it works very well over here, you could almost put the whole UK in a couple of your hardiness zones.
We do get variations from place to place, but often if you can find a protected corner or wall you can get away with something that wouldn't grow in an exposed position, its that borderline with some things over here.
West coast of Scotland has gardens growing all kinds of exotic plants, down south where I am its often that bit colder in winter.

@pete is not much more than an hour from us, if that, but his hardy Osteospermum is in full bloom whilst ours is still struggling to get going. There are local differences simply on where you are. Our night time temperatures are about 2C/4F lower than in the town only 7 miles away and in winter it can be double that.

Nice try Michael but its not, it never gets taller and just moves sideways.
Obviously the same family I would think.
This is it before it wakes up in the morning.

I think the leaves are wrong for this and was thinking more along the lines of Delosperma. These African daisies and "Ice Plants" are confusing but all lovely. They all (?) open in the sun and close at night.
