@Jenny namaste they always look lovely :blue thumb: but just be careful that they don't seed too freely now that they're well established. If you have enough then make sure you cut off the seed pods before they drop the seed as they can become a menace :).

I have a dear friend who has a natural bee friendly style garden . I have sent her the photo and she loves the idea of growing them They have a largish "rambling " garden so they will be welcomed. I am seeing her tomorrow and will take her some seeds.
I won't let my little group get out of hand. But thank you for your words of caution ,

Re the tree blossom. When I was a beekeeper a few years ago I looked forward to tree blossom from early in the season. Folk will be familiar with "pussy Willow" for example but might not realise that tree blossom represents the majority of pollen and nectar over the year. Also the nectar, and the honey from it, can be different colour and consistency (clear and liquid, or solid) Horse Chestnut produces a clear brown honey and Hawthorn a solid 'set' honey (over 30% glucose like oilseed rape) The other interesting fact is that not all trees produce a really good 'crop' of honey every year. Many produce every 5 years!
Sure a present beekeeper will give far more information, my memory goes more each week!!

I've not really noticed bees around our tree blossoms except for our Sophora and I thought that was because it provided pollen for them as the earliest flowering tree we had (Feb-March). We have seven lilac trees but I can't remember seeing bees on them.

Our garden is very bee friendly, purely by accident, and we have a constant buzzing all round the garden :blue thumb: (and it's not my tinnitus :heehee:). Their current favourites are the welsh poppies (hundreds of them growing around the garden) as well as the many allium siculum and and weigelia. Their favourite is the hundreds of Phlomis russeliana that should flower within the next week or two and then Veronicastrum a bit later.

An azalea of some sort. It came with the house and the builders did their best to kill it but we've coaxed it back to life :)
