Some years ago, possibly 9 or 10, one of my brothers ordered some rose seeds online from China. When he got them he decided to share some with me & so we both sowed them on the same day. Unfortunately none of his germinated & only one of mine came up. I managed to keep it alive for its first year in a pot but later I planted it out in a big square tub on the balcony. It took about 4 years before I saw the first flowers & I almost dug it up & threw it away but now I'm glad I didn't give in to that impulse because for at least the last 5 years it's produced these beautiful butter yellow flowers during the last days of April & the first days of May each year.

A lady on another gardening forum identified it for me a few years ago but somehow I've since lost its name so I refer to it as the "Chinese Rose" because of where the seeds came from.

A few of the summer pots I planted up recently. The others are down by the little back road, for people passing by to admire.
They will fill out in time.

These poppies spread themselves all over the garden and in amongst all of our plants.

                  More of our wild area.
We try to keep the English bluebells and are working hard at digging up the Spanish ones but it is difficult. Some we leave.

These manage to propagate quite easily and have now spread themselves throughout the garden. They have become so invasive that we have potted up about 100 (so far) that are trying to take over some of our beds and shall take them on our next visit to the charity garden centre. They have said they have made about £500 from what we have taken to them so far this year. :hapydancsmil:

My good lady spotted some Forget-Me-Nots growing near the bird feeder. We never planted them so they are either from the wild bird seed or a poo present from one of our feathered friends.

I've grown Bowles Mauve for years. Normally hardy but for some reason I lost mine last year! So bought a new one and planted in pot under shelter of my large Scots pine. I must have done some pinching out as the plant is now wonderful by my opinion, so IS LOOKING GOOD IN MAY 2023, what do you think? 20230511_133640.jpg
