Amazing photos every one, your hot ones are positively scorching JarBox. We planted the wildflower garden last year it isn't very big but there are plenty of plants packed in. The buzzies love it!

Nice pics Dendro. You have got some unusual things, I don't know Crinodendrom or Smilacena. I love that Thalictrum - how big will it get. I keep putting one of the Thalictrums on my wanted list - but it never happens - I am a bit (lot) concerned about space.

If you'd like some thalictrum I'll happily send you some, Peter - most of mine came from a customer's garden. She keeps her friends well supplied with them, and I can see I'll be doing the same!

Re height - well, I gave a couple of them to P with a P, and his are double the height of mine  but then he'd planted them (without a pickaxe!)in soil where he'd previously buried the odd rabbit or three....... looks like they're carnivores! ;)

Without that, I'd say they normally grow to about 4ft, and, as I said, you're likely to find you have rather more than one in the future, if you buy a single one! Lovely plants, though :D

The smilacena I saw on Viv Marsh's site, Postal Plants http://www.postalplants.co.uk/

I got a few things from him, and can thoroughly recommend the site. I had some Tritonia, Knautia macedonica, Schizostylis, an Aster, (Pixie red-eye), a Sasa, Libertia, Phormium, and that grass that Windy loves, and whose name escapes me at the moment!!!

The crinodendron is another plant that likes acid soil - the leaves don't tend to be such a dark green if grown in other conditions, and are rarely so glossy. Ours isn't in a great place, getting smothered by hollyhocks, so I'll probably move it later this year.

edit - the grass is Miscanthus!

Lovely, lovely, lovely - the flowers, colours, shapes and I'm sure the smell of many of them too.

I took a couple of pics today -

    - this huge acacia in a neighbours garden. They are blooming all over the place at the moment and the bees are having a heyday!

    - this foxglove in our garden

    - and then this one, waiting for PeterS to ID it for sure (see Pretty in Purple in the ID section)

Hi KG, could the unidentified one be a Penstemon, they come in all sorts of colours, I have red, pink and blue ones here just coming out. I'll try and do some pics later.

    More excellent photos, everyone.

Love that orange poppy, JarBax. Waco sent me some orange poppy seeds but I don't see a lot of sign of them ... yet!

Sis, Pretty in Purple is looking decidedly pink now!

I can see why everyone loves that Rhododendron, pip!

Wonderful photography all as well. [IMG] [IMG]

Couldn't agree more with your comments LOL.

Absolutely adore your 'pretty in pink' flower Kedi-gato. I have been following the thread - but have had nothing to offer re. id. (first thought was a saponaria - but that is way off!)

    Great thread!
