Shhh! Don't talk so loudly! They've started waking up.

Aquilegias don't come true from seed unless there are no other Aquilegias with a very large radius (at least bee distance). They are one of the most promiscuous plants and will cross breed with almost any other Aquilegia.

I allow a handfull to mature and select any garden worthy ones to stay. I have a couple of good deep blues and a very choice greeny white one. But the majority get pulled as they tend to be indifferent. Which is a shame as I quite like them.

The photos were taken in low light levels :noidea:

These two lilacs are just opening but the others are about a week behind

Wisteria should be flowering by Open Day :fingers crossed:

Choisyas are just opening. The leaves of Sundance always look a bit poorly at this time of year.

The Welsh poppies started opening a week ago but the Californians are only just trying to open
                              P1230205.JPG

Laburnum is, also, just opening and may last till Open Day

The tree peony needed to wait another two weeks but we may have some buds opening late. It has 32 flower heads this year

The magnolia is doing well this year

With a bit of luck the artichokes may have budded up by Open Day, as well

It looks as though the exochordas may be finished by then

The indifferent ones actually look very good en masse. Unfortunately we lost over 4,000 of them to the new disease. It's a downy mildew that only affects Aquilegias. Watch out for it and burn any diseased leaves you see.
