    Most of our flowers have suffered from the heavy frosts but a few hang on.

    Evening Primrose (grows wild all over the garden)

    Surprisingly, the Cobaea is still flowering although it is totally exposed growing along a catenary cable between the house and the greenhouse.

    In different stages of its life cycle.

      Fuchsias are still flowering all over the garden
      P1500235.JPG

      Only white Nigella is still flowering (but I'll have a look around to see if any blue ones have made it through the frosts)

      ‘Tis the last rose of summer
      Left blooming alone;
      All her lovely companions
      Are faded and gone;
      No flower of her kindred,
      No rosebud is nigh,
      To reflect back her blushes,
      Or give sigh for sigh.

      We don't have a lot of flower left but we have an enormous amount of foliage plants. People from Mrs Shiney's flower arranging clubs come round all year to take some and, usually, a lot is cut for many of the churches around here for their flower festivals. They are now starting to come round, by appointment, for their Christmas foliage (most won't come until next month).

      We have a lot of shrubs etc. that aren't suitable for arranging as they aren't evergreen but are just on their last legs

        It looks as if you have quite a large garden @shiney . I think foliage plants are an important addition to any garden.

          Yes, it's a fair size :blue thumb: and getting harder each year to keep it under control. :sad: :old:

          There are some pictures here taken by GC members (including some from Beckie R.I.P. :cry3:) on our charity open day last year (had to cancel this year's opening due to Covid).

          Special Invite To Forum Members - 2019

          I think the photos don't start until nearly half way through the thread.

          I've posted the open day each year since 2008
          Sneak Preview of shiney's Open Day

          This was the first time we'd invited GC members and it was when we were still only getting about 100 visitors. In the last five years we usually had about 500 visitors.

                    I was hoping my Brugmansia has flowered but it's not quite there yet. It needs 2 more days and frost free nights. Funnily enough though the flowers of Brugmansia sanguinea are more frost hardy than the leaves!
