So I don't see why you couldn't as you have some of the above. There is a less common orange one too. You can massacre them like Iochroma.

My Nandina Fire Power is still totally green as we are not cold enough yet ... maybe January/February it will turn. We love it any way.

 

I had a super surprise this morning. Sitting out I noticed a white something waving through the trellis. On examination it was Abyssinian gladiolus (gladiolus murielae) Acidenthera in a pot which has held the Balloon flower (Platycodon grandiflorus) for years, since 2007.


These are not the bulbs I bought and planted early October ... they are down under my Sunseeker rose. I last had Acidenthera in 2008/09 planted in the rockery next to this pot.
Could they have seeded and lay dormant in this pot all these years? I will have to split the pot up in the Spring no doubt after these stop flowering and before the Balloon Flower comes up again (I haven't even taken this years leaves off. yet) I had actually thought the tall leaves were from a yellow Freesia that seeded there years ago. All the Freesias are up now.

 

Everything is still blooming as we are not that much cooler than we have been since the start of Autumn. Constantly in the low to mid teens and not falling at night. Here are a few flowers taken today

Cistus creticum, Osteospermum ecklonis, Anisodontea capensis, Lantana canara, Fasciculria bicolor

 

It's crazy, @stephenprudence! The Wirral must be at least 700kms north of here, but we've already had a couple of ground frosts. Admittedly, the Lantana, Osteospermum, Erythrina and Hedychiums are still flowering, but only just Doesn't seem to be much sign of the Gulf Stream cooling/switching off does there?

 

Indeed, its common, if not a yearly occurrence to have everything flower in December. 30 years they would not be doing this past November most years.

No complaints though, a colourful winter is a good winter!

 

On my weekly assist at Ness Botanic Gardens in Wednesday I saw this majestic looking Willow leaved Podocarp was going nicely after a trim. Lovely habit from the Podocarpus salignus

 

Fatsia Spiders Web, has attracted lot of small wasps.

Osteospermums still have a few flowers.

Salvia Hotlips still has a few red and white flowers.


Dwarf Salvias Miracle, pink and red.
