      It's a Sheal thing Anthony! :heehee: My green fingers work outside not inside, well, with an exception or two......

      Ficus Benjamina almost 6ft tall.

      If it's green and I remember to water it then it'll hang around for years. :biggrin:

        You've definately got green fingers if you've grown that Ficus. I couldn't tell you the amount of those I've killed off. I reckon there's a little piece of " Houseplant Heaven " with all my ex Ficuses lined up in it. ( Ooh.... And Cordylines/Draceanas ).

            Our new bed is still going strong :blue thumb:

            One of the Galtonias is now blooming - thanks for the I.D. - but we still can't work out how they got there :scratch:

            And the mixture of colours doesn't offend our eye - although it may do so for some.

              @Anthony Rogers the Ficus was a descendant of the original plant I bought 30 years ago, when they get to large I take cuttings and start again. There's a secret to keeping them going and it took me years to work it out. :)

                      @Anthony Rogers and @ARMANDII

                      Ficus Benjamina is one of the least demanding plants you could have but it's temperamental and will drop it's leaves if it's not happy.

                      Find it a warm, light, draft free spot in a room and never move it, they don't like being disturbed. As you can see above, mine is standing next to a radiator and a north/west facing window, so it gets late afternoon sun and it's own central heating in winter.

                      In the thirty years I've grown them they have never been fed and rarely watered, the soil used is multi-purpose compost and they are comfortable being pot bound. I change the compost once every two to three years, the plant will sulk for a while and may drop some leaves but will eventually pick up. I water them when I remember and at a guess that will be every two months or so. :)

                          I agree with Sheal. :love30: :blue thumb:

                          I had two of them at work. They got very little attention, were in full daylight but not direct sun, watered once a fortnight and it was the job of an apprentice to clean the leaves twice a year. The leaves were sprayed with water once a week.

                          They got replaced when they hit the ceiling at 10ft high and were sent on permanent holiday to a reception area in one, or other, of the many big local companies. They hated being moved and dropped at least half of their leaves, but recovered fairly quickly. :)

                            Thanks Shiney. :) Watered once a fortnight and sprayed with water once a week, your plants were kept in luxury! :heehee:
