Slugs and snails are a huge issue here, the garden is surrounded on all sides so no predators seem to be able to get in and we have cats which severely deters birds so the result is a huge over population... over the past 3 nights I have collected 5 carrier bags full of slugs/snails each bag weighed at least a kg!

I've now set-up beer traps (using the homemade water, flour, sugar, yeast mix) which seems to attract them but as of yet not drowned any...

@noisette47 We just talk to them nicely :noidea: They're in pots on the patio and do their own thing.

As they do, as they do..... The only times I 'took' cuttings, they turned out to be the most horribly invasive plants. Lamiastrum galeobdolon and Oenanthe japonica spring to mind:heehee:
Mme Galen's flowers are much larger than usual, perhaps because I got strict with the pruning this year!

In pots as well! Perhaps it's the steady supply of water? Do you feed them? And in which language do you talk to them?:)

No feeding, watered every day in hot weather, kept in greenhouse over winter and spoken to in Shineylandish. I think they originated in @Beckie76 Land.

What! You've got Campsis to bloom and that steadfastly refuses to bloom around here! Now that's not fair!

Solanum rantonnetii is now blooming properly (about ten weeks late this year!).................

You need the correct language for the plant. We speak to our Naga chillies in Bengali. :blue thumb:

@noisette47 , the C stutgart looks great, mine has now grown a few leaves and starting to show the variegation better, I got the impression its a tall one.

As to Hedychium, I split mine most years, the ones in pots that is, I have a clump of gardnerianum just coming into flower which is growing under the kitchen window, its bone dry but usually flowers well there, its well established 10yrs or more.
I also find the smaller H. densiflorum grows quite well in dry shade.
The "tara" did not flower as well as usual, believe it or not, I think it was too hot, the flowers wilted very quickly growing in full sun.

You have the edge on me regarding Lagerstoemia, mine rarely gets into full flower due to budding up late, I assume its about how long the growing season is?

They're pretty late-flowering here too but very useful when everything else has shrivelled up in the heat. The French are very savage with them but get huge flower heads as a result!
Isn't it lovely? Cannas do well here despite the drought. I'd love to get a genuine bit of Louis Cottin, though. I've got five clumps of Wyoming that were supposed to be but aren't!
