What are cyclamen? Are they a one off plant or do they come back? Everywhere is full of them at the moment.

Corms that flower in autumn and some in spring. Perennial. Houseplants too of course.

Thanks. It might be worth having the odd clump then at some point.

The ones growing on the bank are Cyclamen hederifolium, they like very well drained conditions and are growing in virtually no soil. Pretty much pest free and with me they self seed happily.

Bit slow to flower Dahlia City of Alkmar with Canna Durban, was hoping the foliage on the dahlia would of been darker.

Is the first Dahlia & Canna combo Llandaff?

Would cyclamen grow in the spot under the tree (in the sun in this photo). I was going to put a pot on that corner of the patio to cover that space. I still might. It would be nice though at the end of the year to have some nice ground cover in there. This is where I would have liked some bluebells but not if they are too invasive. There is not an awful lot of soil in there as the roots of the tree protrude through the surface. The area in total shadow in the photo will have to remain clear as it is the best access to the back of the sheds.

                          G.

Ps the sun doesn' get as high as that in winter.

Lovely Perki....we seem to have similar tastes; acteas, cannas etc.
I also grow Ruffled Swan. A bit taller and with semi double flowers:)

Gary, yes cyclamen would grow there but it is not really a groundcover plant. It disappears for most of the year
Consider geranium Margaret Wilson there......white/grey foliage and lilac flowers; lovely thing. Or Brunnera Hadspen Cream. Nice variegated foliage and forget me not blue flowers in spring and early summer:)
