Yes, we sell the plants for charity - we open our garden once a year and sell about 1,000 plants (all different kinds) but the chillies go out all through the summer. We now only grow two varieties, Nagas and ShineyHybrids.

The Hybrids are our own breed (can't even remember which chillies we bred them from ) and have been bred for their heat, fresh taste and to be very productive whilst remaining small plants. These are popular locally as good edible plants and just as attractive houseplants. We've sold about 50 this year.

The Nagas are grown especially for the Bangladeshi community locally (mainly the restaurants and take-aways) for their private use. Nagas are, of course, very hot even when green. Apparently the flavour of them is different, and better, when green.

Unfortunately, the only way you can get them from me is to come over :noidea:. The size that I sell Nagas at is when they're up to 4ft high and in rather large pots. Nagas are temperamental and some produce a lot of chillies and others only a few. I don't sell them until I'm sure they're going to be good croppers. People come to us to buy all their plants but the Nagas get delivered. There's an ulterior motive with delivering them. As they're always taken to the restaurant/take-away I not only get paid but they usually knock up a curry for us - or give us a pile of popadoms with accompaniments. :heehee:

It's the scent out of season that is "looking good in September"....hadn't noticed it flowering until I caught the scent wafting here.
It had flowered, as is the norm, from early spring until mid summer when it was pruned back and now a second flush with plenty of buds to come. Another reflection of our fantastic summer

Amazingly I took 3 small cuttings of Salvia (Amistad) on the advice of forum members a while back and amazingly they are all viable plants...feeling well chuffed I also have strawberry and Lavender cuttings growing well....I can see me doing a lot more of this around the garden both this and next season....

The toadies did not appreciate the warmth of the summer and those that are going to bloom are really late this year. Tricyrtis formosana 'Dark Beauty'..........

I'm really pleased to see Albuca bracteata in bloom as the bulbs were rather soft after the beast from the east despite being in my woodwork shed (they must have got too close to freezing) .............

BigC, yes, salvia Amistad cuttings respond fast. Most salvias though are quick and many can be divided or roots pulled out and potted, e.g. Salvia Blue Note and similarly spreading varieties.:)
