Errr...I'd have to disagree with that statement! My E. Sparkling Burgundy have been undisturbed for 10 years now but still flower every year. Even so, it is time I split and replanted them, if only to try them out in different parts of the garden

Not wanting to start a massive debate:smile: but the Eucomis sparkling burgundy that I have had three heads when I bought it a couple of years ago.
It still has the same three heads it had when I bought it, but for the first time those three heads flowered this year.
It is now producing new foliage and growing new heads.

I grew Eucomis from seed 20plus years ago and have a large clump, I think it is autumnalis, but it has now got overgrown, in total shade and very dry.
It did for many years flower well.

Aren't Agapanthus and Nerines other examples of bulbous plants that actually flower better for being congested?

I refer to the answer I gave a little while ago, with regards to every garden is different, and how I work in almost lab conditions. I do not take things personally, as plants, gardening and horticulture are unique experiences in the realms we have at our disposal, your garden, you are right based on your experience, another poster will be correct in their garden, me I am correct in my nursery, planting in containers/pots, we learn from each other, some problems are uniform, some are unique, I can only draw on what I know and experienced, ditto for you, and everyone else, I have stated before, I had a problem growing Cycleman, an old gardener told me add 5% clay to your growing media, did it, never had a problem since, other methods I tried never worked, I am here to learn, and offer what I know, not to get involved in arguments, I value everyones opinion.

Crocosmia are from the same family as lillies, and Eucomis are from the same family as Asparagus.

I saw some in full bloom yesterday, they obviously think it's the end of October, judging by the weather, at this rate it should be christmas in a months time.
