    I've had it 7 or 8 years now and until a few years ago it only ever produced one flower spike and then it produced three. I think the growing tip got damaged or died in a wet summer and these three then developed, the spiny foliage discourages me from taking a closer look. It has shown no inclination to produce more but I'm hopeful. I grow it in fairly stony free draining soil and it can get very dry. It gets a little shade at times.
    Since getting it I have seen it in the Himalayas, a couple of times, growing on sunny slopes.

      I'm glad you like it. I have a fondness for dark coloured dahlias either flowers or foliage. Will post more examples as they bloom.

                Won a £20 prize for outstanding effort for my garden, all my plants appeared to me, to be past their best, still not much competition around here. This was taken early June.
