    I remember that classic quote in the "global warming" era. We'll be able to grow Bougainvillias in the UK. Fat chance with night time temps of 9C forecast here in Battle tomorrow night,

      I didn't think you had tropical climes @Sheal. Neither do I, that bit of the garden is just a bit of a suntrap. I have actually no idea what hibiscus prefer so I could be frying it alive having it there :heehee:

          You obviously have one very smart cat. Mine aren't and rub themselves over everything and always get covered in pollen and plant debris

            My two cats have never been bothered in any way by the plants in my garden, Dips. I think we sometimes get a bit over anxious about some of the myths, anecdotes, and truths about the hazards in the garden for our much loved pets. I've got literally thousands of possibly poisonous plants in my Cottage Style garden and yet my cats know what to eat and what not to.:cat-kittyandsmiley::dunno::snork:

            If it was just about eating them then thats fine mine aren't completely stupid

            But i do know of cats that have got very sick from the pollen of lillies so i avoid them.

            I agree with you about lilies, Dips, although I have a couple of hundred of them in large pots around the garden [and have had them before I even had cats] but again to be honest the only thing the cats eat is grass to aid their digestion. I think if people are worried about certain plants then to avoid stress they should avoid growing them but there appears to be a fine line between genuine hazards to pets and the over anxious worries of a loving owner.:dunno::snork:

            Oh i agree with you there i have lots of poisonous plants that my cats don't and have never eaten.

            They are eating a variegated grass in my water feature which is getting highly annoying. Esp when there is plenty of other grass why do they have to eat my plant i paid money for

            Maybe i should re home them and then get lots of lillies instead and save my poor grass lol

              Typical of cats, they never do what you want them to:heehee::cat-kittyandsmiley: I have watched mine "test" my Pampas "Sunningdale Silver" but found it too tough and coarse so they don't bother with it. I do have several ornamental grasses but again I find that they will only eat the ordinary tall grass I might have missed in a dark corner of the garden!!:dunno::snork:

              We've found that the visiting cats tend to eat certain of our ornamental grasses and not others :scratch:. Maybe those grasses taste of mice! :heehee:

                Poppy- a pleasant surprise:spinning: cause i didnt put any seeds here.. i thought this was an aweful giant weed but vl let it flower. Whats the harm.... and wow! Proof i have so much to learn. Lol! uploadfromtaptalk1403682084558.jpg

                And last but not the least, what happens when you get greedy and think echiums are difficult to grow and sow 15 seeds and plant them next to each other, thinking "noway 10 seedlings will survive the moving:fingers crossed:..." the result: overzealous echiums:psnp:... uploadfromtaptalk1403682419524.jpg i dont know wht to do:scratch: .. vl let them do their thing now:pathd:...
