Hello @OwdPotter. In France I have a local French handyman who mows but I don't trust him with weeding! He killed my young silver birch tree by strimming aroubd the bark, but he's very nice and kind and pops round everday to see if everything is OK. In Norfolk we are lucky. There is a retired professional gardener who lives 5 minutes away and he looks after the garden, not expensive.

I'm pleased with my changes that I made 3 weeks ago realising that it has to be done. I can now look into the next years to come.

That white one is one of 3 cats that love nibbling on the catmint.

        20240514ourgarden_01.jpg

For some reasons, I have only 1 Allium this year. In contrast to Monty Don's garden (also on wet clay), my Alliums don't spread, but the Honeybells do love it.

        20240514ourgarden_02.jpg

I had grown around 10 foxgloves from seed and this one is majestic. It's around 1.2 m high.

The Deutzia (behind the orange Geum) that I bought 3 weeks ago seems to like it because it has grown a lot I would say and gets flowers. The Cornflower behind it will be moved once it's Autumn. I had intended that move last Autumn/Winter, but that car driver that knocked me down on a pedestrian crossing in September gave me no chance.

        20240514ourgarden_07.jpg

The new Spirea 'Snowmound'. After my purchase, I was not really happy after seeing many untidy shrubs in the internet. Many assurances from you that it would be an easy shrub calmed me down. While walking in our area this week, I saw such Spirea 'Snowmound' and was relieved that it's exactly what I want to do with it.
The reason why I bought it was the green. Such a wonderful green.

I will take more pictures today, because the garden is currently a lovely result of hard work and I want to enjoy it.

            It looks lovely @simone_in_wiltshire.
I bought Snowmound too, recently. It was in bud when I left France a couple of weeks ago. I go back to France today. I wonder if it will be in flower.

Mine is flowering - which is very early for here, but several things are early because of the non winter. I love the S. argutas though - Bridal Wreath. It has a lovely fountain habit, and slightly earlier than S'mound, so that might be another worth considering @simone_in_wiltshire

I agree, @simone_in_wiltshire, Snowmound is the most fabulous shade of green early in the yr. :) It is my favourite of the spireas, though I wish the flowering season was a little longer.

Cotinus Grace making a comeback with Nepeta Cat's Pajamas. Despite the spelling of the name, I like this Nepeta as it remains compact, with a larger proportion of flowers than leaves.

My pollarded Catalpa is also making a comeback. Anxiety over!

Probably not but I only got it last year so it's not been through a hard winter as yet.. it seems ok down to -8c for short periods.. I think sharp drainage helps it along..
