@CarolineL No the Rehmannia does not reliably self seed, I had several a few years ago and that is the only one left and I haven't had any popping up in the last couple of years.
Just a thought: is your poppy "Kleine Tanzerin"

Hi @NigelJ - hmm confirms my rehmannia experience. A pity because it's a good looking plant. Not sure re poppy. The name is "little dancer" and the poppy certainly isn't little! I really wanted a white one, but it is a good colour. IMHO Beauty of Livermore is the best of the traditional red ones, but my plant of that is very slow and small.

Rain finally stopped and walking down the sodden garden to the g/house to sow more dwarf French beans jst now I was surprised to see this-
Rather early considering the weather so far, but a lovely surprise on another miserable day.
It's one of my many Bishops Children that I grow from seed. This one is about 3 yrs old now.

Finally got out in the garden with camera, although many of the rhododendrons are past their best. However, still plenty of splashes of colour around.

Lovely garden ... reminds me of when I lived in South Carolina. Thanks for sharing that.

Here is Summerville where I lived ...

A few pictures from May in my garden.

Lupin ‘Masterpiece’ - a bit wonky as had a munch taken out whilst in bud! The close-up of the deep, rich colour of dark plum with orange inside - which seems to change from a pinky maroon to deep burgundy purple in different lights.

I like that Lupin @AuntyRach. I think that's the one I see in a garden I occasionally go past. It would work well with other planting I have.
If I can stop the slugs eating it as soon as it appears....
