I took this shot on 15th October...

        IMG_7216.JPG

...it's still flowering now - just, after two frosts.

        IMG_7300.JPG

Not sure whether this is another flower bud forming...

A lady told me, on another gardening forum some years ago, about this plant! She told me how it didn't have the prickly leaves of others. Unfortunately it grows too big for our balcony.

If I were to plant it it would be in a big pot in the far corner of the balcony - but that;s already occupied with a shrub rose i grew from seed. It flowers in April/May & has the loveliest yellow flowers you can imagine!

@NigelJ is the lomariifolia scented? It seems to be only certain mahonias that have that lily of the valley perfume.

It's worth sacrificing a bit on the length of the flowers to not get savaged when weeding underneath!

@CarolineL lomariifolia is supposed to have a slight scent, but I haven't smelt it. Will have a sniff when most of the flowers are fully open and fairly still.

Disappointed with my pots this year, the saliva ( lake spencer think ) have only really got going since late September.

Another Late flowering salvia Phyliss fancy , I do like it but space is premium and its a large plant.

Rudbeckia Herbstone old flower heads looked quite well against the horizon, shame its leaning on my Parrotia which is starting to colour up nicely .

Miscanthus Caberat I actually bought it for someone else, but now its in my garden  . I did have another miscanthus (Memory) in this spot but it sulked so that's round the front now and doing well its even flowered allow its only 2-3ft tall ( 7ft when mature )
