    Good old Quentin! He reckoned that it stopped settling after 4 years, didn't he? :biggrin: And you don't need to wash up plates until they've contained fish.....

      Rose Milligan had the right idea:-

      Dust if you must, but wouldn't it be better
      To paint a picture, or write a letter,
      Bake a cake, or plant a seed;
      Ponder the difference between want and need?

      Dust if you must, but there's not much time,
      With rivers to swim, and mountains to climb;
      Music to hear, and books to read;
      Friends to cherish, and life to lead.

      Dust if you must, but the world's out there
      With the sun in your eyes, and the wind in your hair;
      A flutter of snow, a shower of rain,
      This day will not come around again.

      Dust if you must, but bear in mind,
      Old age will come and it's not kind.
      And when you go (and go you must)
      You, yourself, will make more dust.

      Remember, a house becomes a home when you can write
      "I love you" on the furniture.....

        I don't understand that 'dusting' word either!
        Not sure how you can tell my prowess at housework from that pic @LawnAndOrder :biggrin:

        PS - I use a damp cloth rather than a duster though. Duster is only for high bits and skirting boards ;)

          I find my car never needs cleaning it just doesn't get any dirtier after a while.

            Many years ago I washed my car because I was selling it. I had advertised it in the local paper and they said I could have a free entry photo of the car in the paper but they needed it within the hour. So I washed one side of the car and took a photo of that side. :thumbsup:

            It looked good in the paper.

              It's like Immaculate Conception; it just happens without human intervention.

                I had never heard of that poem before @shiney , it sums up my attitude to housework perfectly :biggrin:.
                I agree with the sentiments, except for the line about climbing mountains. I'd need to change it to visiting gardens :smile:.

                Dust if you must, but there are gardens out there
                Carefully tended, with beauty to share.
                With beds full of flowers and colours galore
                And maybe a plant shop with bargains in store.

                Dust if you must, but that's not for me
                I'd rather go outside and look at a tree
                That stands in a garden with planting herbaceous
                Traditional, contemporary, or maybe audacious.

                Dust if you must, but at the day's end
                I want to have memories of a glorious blend
                Of nature and beauty, and also for me
                A nice piece of cake and a good cup of tea.

                Apologies for the plagiarism, Rose inspired me :smile:.

                  Nice one @AnniD - although I'd definitely be including the line you'd miss out!

                  ...as long as the knees stay in one piece, which is becoming increasingly unlikely :biggrin:

                          Having little experience with cuttings (other than remarks -see below below - I am the one in blue), Mrs Lao has, in my opinion, achieved good results twelve days ago, delivering quintuplets (below - and this without this time having to be on the back of a motorbike) from a mother who, as you can see, is well and thriving, despite November march-ing to the ides.

                            At least for coleus, unlike Tintin, it is not terminal... A strange way to understand truth - is he quoting John's gospel?

                              He is misquoting the Chinese philosopher, Lao Tzu.

                              Now I am sticking my neck out here (again!) because I am not sure, but one of La Tzu’s most famous advice to his disciples was Do the hard things while they are easy, and do the big things while they are small … and I believe this may well be the saying that inspired JFK’s inspirational "We choose to go to the Moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard."

                              Probably not true, but I have a dream …

                                Do you think Lao Tzu was a good gardener?
