    I believe the farmers grub them out after 25 or 30 yrs, a bit longer for pears.

    On the actual farm where I worked the trees were on a south facing slope and irrigation would be a problem.
    I told him a few years ago to plant grapes and he laughed.:biggrin:

            So want to get some more cutting back, moving, jiggling and planting out done but everything is still happily blooming away. I haven't the heart to compost blooms

            Very blustery out but tried to battle against it and took these pics just a moment ago.
