Good afternoon @Plantminded my friend yes this is my first year with them I am hoping to build up a collection of them eventually,this is what decided me do slugs eat Heuchera? , no they are tough plants and slugs and snails don't bother them. What do you do with Heuchera in the winter? Nothing, they are an evergreen perennial plant that keeps most of its leaves all year round and bees just love them and they can be divided every 3/4 years

 

The year that I have had with slugs and snails vine weevils don't worry me at all I usually pick them off with a torch at night touch wood have only seen a few this year

Some of you know that Mrs Shiney gets on with most of the wildlife here - and when we go abroad.

Yesterday I wandered down the garden and saw a young squirrel busy eating amongst our plants. He looked at me as I walked by about 5ft from him and he just carried on eating. I went past him six times in the course of an hour (twice with the mower but kept about 10ft away those times).





Looks as though it was a blackberry


Mrs Shiney was a bit upset to have missed him when she came home but today she spotted him eating a pear and came back in to get me to get my camera. By the time I got out there he was sunbathing on the edge of the patio.





Then Mrs Shiney walked over to him to say hello and he climbed up her trousers - on the outside

She spent the next five minutes talking to him and cuddling him before taking him back to the pears on the ground
