Thanks, DaveW, it is a joy to see such beautiful flowers in the winter/spring here.

K-G, think they actually like a bit of cool before the heat to make them bloom. Just my guess. [IMG] I think it was pete who said they are actually naturally winter-flowering bulbs. Not doubting him, but I couldn't find anything on that .. think everyone's mindset is into late summer/autumn with them.

Well, Waco, let's not discuss Dave's personal attributes on line, please! I think what Dave has ... in his Agave .. is the Americana variegata! And well done you, on your Freesias about to bloom now ... your climate is obviously right. I don't know about your "pleoni" ????

Been Googling - I think it's an Americana Marginata.

It's great to have the fragrance of Jasminum polyanthum wafting on the air again - good to see yours is out too LoL. Do you get the one massive flowering in spring or does your put on smaller shows during summer and autumn as well? Here it also seems to have a few flowers almost throughout the year, with additional 'mini-surges' in June, August and November.

Its only drawbacks are the vigour (a small rooted cutting in 1999 has run amok - 20 odd feet in both directions!) and if we get any vicious cold winds in January, a lot of the flower buds are seared. There's always plenty more to follow, but being greedy I want the lot to open. This year looks as though there'll be a bumper flowering. I must try and get the camera fixed before it reaches its peak.

It was supposedly an early, patio type peach tree but its fruit is more like a nectarine. Overwintered in an unheated greenhouse, the bonus is this absolutely beautifull mass of spring blossom!

Lovely garden, woo ... I bet you enjoy that in the wee hours!

Oh, pete, they are beautiful. I've avoided Camelias here, although they are in the garden centres at the moment, but like Rhododendrums, Azaleas (I lost my beautiful candy cane one) and Magnolias ... my climate and soil is just not quite right. Sigh!

I call this Mahonia Aquifolium but it was actually grown from a seed from Mahonia "Charity".
Just shows how mixed up our plants are, but I think I like it better than "Charity".

I have clay as well Woo, these are growing in a raised bed with lots of, dare I say it, peat added.
I also water once a year with sequestriene (spelling).
Go on give it a go, but I find they like a bit of shade from that hot mid day sun we get in the more tropical parts of Kent. :D

Woo, maybe I could send you a few bits and bobs from here to try in your nest as you're southeast like a lot of the others?
