Thats the reason I love the people who post on this forum-the fact that disliking a buddleia can be controversial. LOL

I have to admit I am a bit perplexed about statements like "I hate hydrangeas" or "begonias". These are huge families of plants, with plants of very different carachter. Meet an Hydrangea serrata "Shinonome" or a Begonia luxurians, and tell me they are boring, if you can!

Marigold. It's brash and vulgar looking, IMO. Yuk.

I like most plants and a lot of 'weeds' too. But I have a Berberis that I cannot get rid of which is ugly no matter what I do with it. It's nice early spring then gets mildew of some sort shortly after flowering and will not stop growing - now 20 ft high. Have cut it back - a big prickly job and hacked it off and used stump remover all without success.
Ground Elder like Marley - don't get me started !!!! LOL Hateful and cannot get rid of it.

Got some lovely 'weeds' though ... :)

I hate marigolds, many dahlias, some modern HT as stiff as broomsticks, sunflowers the all petals no seeds-kind, hydrangea macrophylla but love the others, hedges of p.laurocerasus and photinia ...so popular in Italy as they are very low-maintenance:mad:, oh almost forgot celosia!...and modern hybrids of hemerocallis... I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings :D and of course last but not least leylandii, aucuba and aralia!

Well, as I've said earlier I hate begonias, however I think one of my favorites is the Tiger Flower - Tigridia Pavonia. I refer to it as the weekend flower as each flower opens after I've left for work and is virtually dead by the time I get home, so the only time I see them in their full glory is at the weekend. You get a succession of flowers but only for day per flower.

I guess it's the same for me. I don't know enough about plants to hate any but I suppose dandelion and buttercups. They look good elsewhere but not in my flower beds.:)
Never used to be much of a lover of hydrangea but quite like the look of the lacy ones.:) The only reason I did not like it was becasue my Ex's Mum had one by her front door and it always looked dusty and faded....wasn't that keen on my Ex's Mum either.:D

(if I were to put on my people analysis hat on.....I'd say I did not like the plant because it somehow represented her.)
