I like my 'daisy grubber' Long thin blade which forks at the end. Son in law made me a few from Re-bar cut to length, flattened at the end and with a nice wooden handle.

I think this thread confirms that tools are a personal thing for most people. From steeling cutlery to manufacturing your own tools from steel bar!. Awesome ;)

      Hi Joolz,

Yes a very handy combination, we sell loads of the longer version and a fair few of the short haha. This type of tool is extremely effective when cultivating.

At this time of year my favourite 'bit o' kit' is a length of aluminium angle 'iron'!

After pressing it into the ground lengthways where I want to seeds to go, I put it on top of the compost bin and scatter seeds in the inner angle, evening them out while standing upright is a doddle and then carefully tip the seeds into the previously made groove then use the same to cover the seeds.

Espesially if the old lumber region starts to complain.:ideaIPB:

        Cheers, Tony.

When Gardeners World magazine 1st started they gave away free, black plastic trowel & fork .
Not the best colour to find at times but, have those two have planted lots of plants

Mine must be a bulb planter. Great for planting bulbs and bedding plants in soft soil , very quick and accurate , its a real boon :dbgrtmb: Dont try using one on a lawn , they wont look at hard soil .

              Hi
I have an onion hoe and like Jane's it has a rounded blade. Not like your shark tooth hoe most like your JST 114 but with a rounded back to the blade so you can get in close to stems. Now well 60 years old and a bit worn.
My favourite hand tool is probably the trowel with a forged blade and round shaft with a bright red plastic handle. So I can find it.

                  Hi Joolz,

Its a long handle weeding fork. Funny enough I was on a product reconnaissance mission last Saturday and saw a version of it in my local garden centre. Yours looks like it has some age and is hand made (always a good thing) I wouldn't use it on heavy soil, its more for lifting out weeds from prepared soil beds. Awesome pic through!
