Whoah, when I said no business stuff on the open forum, I kinda didn't expect you to be doing market research on our membership @J S Country Tools

Interesting and entertaining as it is, we'd like a donation to the upkeep of the website please. We're a privately funded forum and not a free platform.

    Hi Zigs,

I'm sorry I wasn't aware I was doing market research. I have a passion for tools, and as a supplier it's kinda hard to get people to open up to me.

My thread is designed to meet people on even terms and discuss products (and anything else that develops from said thread) that they and I use on a daily basis. This is also not the only thread I started, but it's the most popular by far.

I genuinely like to meet other gardeners and become friends with them. It's no secret I use other forums, however I am seeking out circa 2 or 3 of the best forums to use on a regular basis.

I'm sorry if my thread has been taken as a thread that I am using to sell my tools. That was not my intention at all. I would be happy to leave, and re-join without my business contacts.

    Again sorry for any confusion.

    Kind Regards

    Simon

Looks like market research to me Simon, not wet behind the ears mate.

You're quite welcome to join in here, a very interesting subject, but please see it from our point of view, we get a lot of commercial folk joining to promote their business.

Only the genuine ones get to stay.

BTW, this is the best gardening forum ever, Ne Plus Ultra

      Hi Zigs,

Well I wasn't suggesting your "wet behind the ears" and I have access to several forges who can give me more market research than I can shake a stick at. I am a small niche tool supplier who like's to personally interact with others. Take a look at my Facebook and twitter feeds to see how I directly promote my tools.

I understand that you must get suppliers in here, but J S Country Tools are a small business. As far as I'm aware I have only posted up two of my products in this thread of 34 posts. One being in the OP to get others to post pic's and another of my "bad boy bulb planter" and I only did that cos it looks so funny.

I would like to stay here, but I guess the best thing is to close this thread as I'm sure its finished now anyway.

Sorry again if admin think I am out to use your community for my own gain :( Please forgive me if I don't contribute further on this, as that's not what we are about....Peace!

      Kind Regards

      Simon

It is proving to be a good thread likely to be useful to GC members in general.

As a 74.33 recurring year old new bloke, I would like to nominate the Chillington Hoe (pronged type) as my favourite hand tool. Brilliant for hoeing, breaking up heavy soil, raking/levelling and when all that's been done it's just the right length for leaning on whilst having a well earned cuppa !
Nice to be with you all,
              Emjay

My favourite tool at the moment is a pair of Jakoti hand shears.

I've also got a garden fork with a long handle that was made for me, which runs a close second as it saves my back :)

Not come across them before, and they look nice ... but the website is a triumph of over-marketing and under-informing. No information about blade length, handle length, or weight (that I could find)

The blade length is 5". They are pretty light, I only have small hands and they are fine for me to use. The spring is not too stiff. Their original purpose is for sheep shearing, so they are designed to be easy to use for prolonged periods. There are cheaper places to get them from too :)

Thanks, The cutting action, judging by the Monty Don video on their site, looks good :) but I think that I would find them rather short for trimming some herbaceous, so I'll stick with 9" Genzo Clippers (£26, or 7.5" for £24) :)
