        Stainless wooden handled trowel, good pair of secateurs and just for fun an ancient tool which looks like a giant corkscrew for getting at tough roots.

        What's your favourite hand tool?

        For doing what? If a hammer is all someone has then every problem becomes a nail.

        Horticultural tools are too often ill-designed to be fit-for purpose.

          Use it for removing roots - the fun bit is when people really do think it's a corkscrew.

              Definitely my issued jungle knife. Never mind the weeds it will cut down trees, great for digging and totally unbreakable.... Jiffy you need to get one! 1.jpg

                Just purchased a mini pick mattock - this little beauty is invaluable for lifting compacted clay soil :blue thumb:. Saves loads of time which would have otherwise been spent digging over with a fork and spade.
