All 1.5 Kg bags of seed potatoes at Homebase now reduced to 25p. Most may need the shoots taking off and starting again, but quite a few bags looked as if they were ready to plant as they were.

Think I'll stick with Steve R's pumpkins though:

      At Homebase

      FREE seed potatoes

      FREE onion setts

      FREE shallots

Everything that was reduced to 25p earlier in the week was marked up as 'FREE TO TAKE AWAY, today

      And that's my favourite price!

Only grabbed the spud growing kit because it had 3 potato bags inside. Shame there was only one left. Better go and rotavate some more ground.

Thanks Scrungee, I saw this and popped into my local Homebase and the same thing, a big trolley marked "free to customers" Unfortunately there were only seed potatoes left (a awful lot of them mind) and I'm already fully potatoed out.

Unfortunately I can't resist a bargain, and despite already having 200+ spuds growing, put in just over another 100 this afternoon, but very closely planted. I also planted 1,000 onion setts in a couple of 1.2 x 1.2 m raised beds for use whilst young as 'spring onions'. That just leaves the free Pink Fir Apples to plant in my free potato bags tommorow using some of the reduced + multisave (really cheap) farmyard manure stuff I also got from Homebase a while ago down low & topped up with something from my compost heaps above.

I think I'm going to be able to lift some of my spuds earlier than usual this year for use in salads.

Didn't mention above, but my wife also scrunged six pots of 'Jamie Oliver' chives from the herb packs that were being thrown away, but (if you don't ask you dfon't get) also got given for free. A drop of water and they'll be fine.
