Just had an amazing sleet shower! Wonderful to watch ... from the inside that is :heehee: I'd literally just returned home from walking with Oz: perfect timing I call that :phew:
There is a warning of some snow Friday/Saturday but not one that will last long: allegedly!

A beautiful morning when I went to pick up the car.. which somehow turned into a massive temperature drop and sleet showers by post-lunch! Guess I'll do some indoor stuff instead, then. :gaah:

4C and raining heavily. Quite an improvement over the snow that fell during the night! :)

We too had a small skifting of snow last night which was melted by 9am as very bright sunshine. Of course what sails past long after the road has defrosted but the b gritter spewing salt all over the place and making a mess of the verges!:rolleyespink:
I well remember the winter of 62/63 @wiseowl. I lived in north west London at the time. It snowed on Boxing Day and I made a big snowman in the front garden. He was still there on my Mum's birthday (21st March) and no we didn't have central heating. My mum used to go round all the windows, smack the glass on the INSIDE of the windows and the ice sheets would fall into a big metal bucket thing she used to boil the bed sheets in. We don't have a hot house nowadays altho we have a wood burning stove which gives out some heat. Don't heat any of the bedrooms, have super thicket duvets instead and none of the family have had a cold/cough/sore throat for the last 4 years! I really struggle if I go to stay in an Hotel during the winter and can't open the bedroom windows. Wake up with thumping head and sore throat and no it isn't due to over indulging on the red biddy the night before:)....well maybe some of the thumping head might have been caused by a few drams!

@wiseowl and @silu you are bringing back memories. On the last day of school before the Easter break in 1963, we still had a slide in the school playground. When we returned after the break, it had melted. We were gutted! :snork:

There was a sprinkling of snow over the hills this morning and the day has gone progressively down hill, with rain showers driven on gale force winds. 5C/41F

Near gale force winds along the coast this morning but sunny. One clap of thunder and a brief heavy shower around 10am, after that just windy and part sunny, max 8c.

Mild today and the sun has been shining all morning. So mild that I almost took my coat off in the woods!
Colder weather is supposed to be coming though. Mind you, the yellow warnings for expected snow (due tonight) have now gone.

The temperature was below freezing this morning as there were icicles on the Observatory and it was snowing and sleeting at the same time. So it's been a cold, wet, grey day with rain, sleet and snow throughout.:dunno: Right now it's 36f, the pressure reading is 999mbs and the Garden Weather Station is forecasting more rain, sleet and snow!!:snork::coffee:
