The weather men forecast 1/2inch in NW England yesterday . It actually put down 8 - 10 inches ! The most snow I have ever seen. The daughter in law got stuck in Ormskirk last night on her office party. Had a nightmare picking her up this morning the M6 was down to one lane , and the M58 was closed. We had to wait for a snow plough. Still it looks pretty now , and we have ample beer and wine in stock ! :snow:

Just a light covering yesterday and no more overnight, (although a heavy fall was forecast).
A cold but sunny day and just right for a walk across the fields.

Bitterly cold in the Vale again today with some interesting ice fingers on the outside conservatory windows.
Minimun of minus 8C last night with a Max of minus 2C yesterday.
Can we have some global warming please..

Cleared the lower part of the drive this morning so we could get out to Tesco and stock up. Temp at home at 12:30 was minus 5 but en-route to Perth it fell to minus 8.5.

'Interesting' driving on the B class road out of the village and my anti-lock braking system has packed in!!

Currently minus 5.5 but at least it ain't snowing again :yho:

Slight thaw today, +3c in the solar water heating panel. Solar electrics have died, I guess the pv panel is covered in snow & mrs left the lights on all night. Have "nested" the solar batteries in sheeps wool insulation(they don't like the cold) and the roof has moved 1/4" due to the weight of the snow.

Well not much changing here, been -18 3 nights running and despite bright sunshine and blue skies not a sign of anything thawing, especially my mood! Our road has a layer of ice about 5/6 inches thick and to our amazement we did get a grit lorry down today, made zero difference. Postie has been making the odd delivery over the last 4 or 5 days, each time I see his van it has another dent in it and both back and front bumper are missing!!! It will be interesting/depressing to see exactly which plants said to be fully hardy make it through to next year.

Not quite at burning the kitchen table stage yet, altho because we haven't had a bin collection for 6 weeks now have been burning anything which will burn on the coal fire. If anybody mutters about the effect of this on the Ozone layer they could get a rude reply! Thank god I ordered oil in October as around here there is a minimum wait list of 4 yes 4 weeks. Just a tip, empty plastic milk containers make wonderful fire lighters!
Only -10 tonight so verging on the balmy in comparison to what we have had. Roll on Spring.

Water wasn't frozen in the caravan last night. Sun is out & a slight thaw is going on.

Still loads of ice about & had to be push started to get the car out of the car park.

This week, I am mostly in Dorset.
