    @NorthantsGeezer

    Yes, I live on the course. :doh: This first week that started today is practice week and the course is closed from 6pm to 9.30pm every day. The second week, race week, the roads are closed all day on Saturday, Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10am to 9.30pm unless racing finishes earlier. If the weather's bad the racing takes place the following day. Most residents have to either go out and stay out, or stay in. I'm lucky, I can park my car in a local Glen before roads close and walk 15-20 minutes down a disused railway track to get to it. :) Island residents are not allowed to park vehicles on the course, the course being approximately 38 miles, if they do they will have their vehicle towed away and fined £1000! Residents aren't allowed to walk around the course either during road closures, it's too dangerous with bikes moving at speeds of up to 200 mph!

      Yes, it must be really dangerous. I am sure someone was killed one year. I will stick to four wheels I think. :)
      Motorcycle racing looks very sexy, but I would be too scared at anything over 30mph!!!
      I can understand the towing away, but £1000 is a bit steep.

        There are people killed here every year, both the biking visitors and racers. I believe we've had two fatalities already and the bikers have only just started arriving. It's sad and it's difficult not to become indifferent to it when it happens year after year. Both racers and biking visitors know the score and they lose their lives doing something they love, to my mind that's the only way to go!

        Bikes are in my own family's blood, my late father, my two brothers, my son, my younger daughter and my two sons-in-law, all riders. :)

        The thought of losing a £1000 is the deterrent to stop them parking on the course and racing can't happen if those vehicles are there.

          Yeah I can see where you are coming from I guess. Especially if you have history. :)
          Well, let's hope everyone stays safe, and no casualties in the coming weeks :)
          God bless.

            It's dry at the moment with plenty of blue sky. The current temp in the garden is 12.4C.

              The sun is shining, but there are a few darkish clouds on the horizon - hopefully they just pass us by, as I would like to get a wee bit done in the garden today.

                It's grey here with some really heavy threatening clouds, 16C. I don't hold out much hope of using hedge trimmers at my daughter's later! :doh:

                      Lots of sunshine this morning. Some cloud about though. It's currently 12.5C in the garden but a bit chilly in the wind. Let's hope the sunshine lasts. :SUNsmile: :fingers crossed:

                        A dull grey start and not very warm but the sun keeps peeping and if it makes a real effort, it will be so welcome. Got pricking out to do and need to feel warm for that,

                          Quite a nice day, although the Sun kept disappearing behind plenty of slow moving cloud. But when the Sun was out it was very pleasant although it has got a lot cloudier and cooler. Having said that the temperature is still a pleasant 64f.:coffee::snork:

                          Much the same on the other side of the hill in WY although a gentle rain started about 10 minutes ago.
