Unfortunately not, Tetters:dunno::heehee: But, believe me, what's out there in the Cosmos is much more exciting and wonderful than any "Green Men". What more can be better than knowing you're made out of Star Dust!!?:dunno::snorky:

Today was the first time for days that the temperature actually got above 32f and rose to a balmy 40f. We've had 24.6mm of rain during the night and the day which has got rid of the snow and there was a slight breeze but nothing too raw and, of course, the skies had some patches of blue until later in the day when the clouds moved in completely. Right now the temperature is 33f and the pressure reading is 971hpa:coffee::snorky:

There is good and bad news here. The good is it's much warmer, the bad is that we have:snow: falling atm and by the looks of things we could get a fair old doze. The saying about it being too cold to snow might have been very apt up until today.
Luckily the gritter went past literally minutes before it started snowing. The 1 sort of bad thing about where we live is that despite being quite high we are also quite sheltered. Except when it snows this is a huge bonus but if it does snow here it tends to lie.
No real big issues for a while at least as have huge chest freezer full of food, got loads of hay for horse and plenty of wood for the burners so don't really need to go out if it gets bad. No way looking as severe as my avatar and :fingers crossed: it doesn't get like it. Hope you are ok @Sheal. It is looking like you maybe going to be indoctrinated to life in Scotland with a severe winter which would be a pity. Last winter was virtually frost free but not this 1 so far and a long way to go.

Oh you did make me laugh @Irmemac. The family have gone on strike from having anything which has the dreaded Celery in it:). I was managing to disguise it in all sorts of dishes but they have now become wise to my tricks and examine all meals to make sure I haven't been sly and added some. I am planning to make a fairly fiery curry on Saturday and confident I will manage to get rid of some in that altho I am convinced the family have acquired some sort of Celery radar, I got "caught" trying to palm some off in a Chicken, Tomato and Chilli casserole the other night:mad:

Nice try with the disguised celery. Do you think they would fall for it if you just gave it another name? "That's not celery, it's carrot!" My family have a deep suspicion of most veg, which can make meals tricky!

I'm/we're fine thanks @silu. We used to get heavy duty winters when I lived in Essex. That in mind I had to deal with a scary moment today that brought back memories from there. Not far away is a two way road on a slight hill. At the bottom of that hill is a bridge about 100ft long which is single track and no one has right of way from either side. On the way down to it there's a partially blind bend which you can't see round until you're almost on the bridge. Although I was traveling fairly slowly, as I turned the bend there was someone on the bridge so had to break not knowing I was on ice. There was a passing place to my left which I managed to steer/slide into. I then had to make a quick decision, take out the road signs or head for the fence if possible, still sliding I managed to head for the fence (the softest option), luckily the car came to a halt before I got there, so all's well! :phew:

Just days ago, my daughter asked me if I wanted a course on driving in snow/ice, cheeky mare! Perhaps her ESP was working. :) You know Silu, but our friends here won't be aware that she teaches this amongst other things driving wise, for a living.

Story told, the weather hasn't changed much here with an inch of snow again overnight. With what's frozen underneath it's not possible to see what's safe to drive/walk on at the moment, although there is a slow thaw during daylight hours.

A sunny day despite a snow shower this afternoon and still cold, just 0C/32F.

                            Piece of useless information:- :heehee:

On the Hawaiian island of Kauai they have what they call 'one lane bridge etiquette' (doesn't help in your situation :noidea:). They have a lot of one lane bridges and the etiquette, if there is traffic, is to let five cars go in one direction and then five in the other directions. It works very well, except with some tourists, and the locals or people in the know will give the 'Shaka Sign' in acknowledgment. It's simply holding your hand up with the three middle fingers folded gently down and then twisted from side to side.

You just lightly twist your hand - too fast makes you look retarded or like a tourist, and too slow make you look stupid. :snorky:

Yesterday it rained sufficiently to melt the ice and cause floods  So it took me an hour to do a fifteen minute journey .

This morning we have a light dusting of snow, temperature just at freezing point and not the slightest breeze. Sun is forecast for today :th scifD36:
