For the last couple of weeks we've had weather more typical of summer than spring, but things seem to have settle back to a more seasonal 17-20ºC. It looks like we could have a frost or two this week but no rain which wouldn't go amiss.

Interesting @Sheal how the sunrise/set is changing, today it was 05.55 and 19.59 here so you are already getting more daylight than us poor old southerners.

I opened the Kitchen door this morning to find the sun shining and the skies clear blue. The temperature crawled up to 55f and then in the afternoon the skies started to haze and then the clouds rolled in from the North and the temperature dropped down 50f. I was hoping for the forecast clear skies but the clouds are still hanging over my head so no astronomy tonight:dunno:
Right now the temperature is 46f and the pressure reading is 1015hpa.:coffee::snorky:

Now living 300 miles further north than on the Isle of Man @pete I've been comparing the two since I've been here. Both sunset times were (I think) equal on 23rd March and since then we've gained ten minutes more daylight than on the island. Daylight times opening up two minutes every day and three minutes every third day here.

When I was living on the island we had twenty minutes more daylight in June than down south in Essex where I originate from, so it will be interesting to see what happens here by the time we get to midsummer. On the other hand you all fair better down south in the winter months, sunset here around Christmas time was approximately 3.30pm. I'll take more note of it next winter. :)

I think it's interesting to see the differences and perhaps others here on GC would like to put their times up now and again. :)

When I was a lad the sun set, in London, earlier than that. The lamplighter used to be coming down the road at school when we were being sent home at 2.45 p.m.

No. The smog wasn't allowed to stop anything.

We were only sent home early on Fridays and met the lamplighter then. :dbgrtmb:

(I've been trying to post the picture I have of the lamplighter but it's not allowing me to post it . I think it's my computer that's playing up and wants me to shut down for a while so it can do its updates and backups.)

@ARMANDII posted a good picture but there weren't any trees in the road with our school. :dunno:
