WHAT'S YOUR WEATHER LIKE - 2017

The sun woke me at dawn as it was so bright but as the morning progressed grey clouds appeared. Sunshine returned mid afternoon and stayed until sunset. 21C/70F

 

Morning was bright blue skies and no breeze just outside Lincoln. Cloud and occasional drizzle in the afternoon and now the heavens have opened-love hearing the sound of rain with the windows open.

Well I'm not sure but the mercury reached 25C again today.
Looks like strong winds on the way for next week, which is a pity as everything is growing pretty lush at the moment and likely to get badly battered.

 

It started out the same as yesterday with sun from dawn and gradually clouding over as the day wore on. There was a brief thunderstorm and torrential downpour at tea time but the ground is dry again now having soaked up the rain like a sponge. 23C/73F dropping to 13C/55F during the storm.

 

Same here @Sheal not unsurprisingly!. The rain was fairly stotting of the driveway about 2 hours ago. I dread to think what my lovely large Poppies and Meconopsis will look like after the downpour but we really do need the rain. Rather have steady drizzle than a downpour but life is seldom perfect.

 

Stotting.....that's a new word for me to remember @silu and a good description. I looked it up before I saw @ARMANDII 's post.

 

@Sheal. The Scots language does have some rather good expressions. My favourite I think is when you describe someone as having a face like a well skelped (smacked) arse (it's actually not bottom but another 4 letter word beginning with a which isn't allowed on the forum) ie RED! I wonder how you are getting on with your visits to the bakers in Scotland? it's a bit of a minefield with pan or plain and 1/2 loaf,well fired or not,and that's only about bread get onto cakes and scones and you'll take years to work out what the hell people are talking about. Much easier to just get bread from the supermarket

 

It's taken me a while to understand some of the stronger Scots accents here and my landlady (who lives next door) is translating some of the expressions for me along the way.

The bakers isn't a problem for me, the nearest one unless I fight my way into Inverness is 11 miles away in Dingwall. I also gave up eating bread last year as it gripes my fussy stomach these days. My other half eats very little too so we pick the occasional loaf up in the supermarket for him. I've also given up eating cakes and biscuits in recent months too.
