Blowing a hoolie outside (woke me up, hence posting at this ungodly hour) I don't even want to look at what is going on outside. I have a very nasty feeling my garden is going to be in tatters as everything more or less was into full growth. I doubt my herbaceous borders will be coping very well but hey the roof is still on the house as far as I know anyway!

Wish I could say our weather is breezy Nigel:mad:. Garden is being battered and a fair amount of damage and maybe worse to come:cry3:. Seriously peeeeed off. All my Lupins are smashed to bits as are the Verbascums. Most of my giant Alliums are over as are my dozens of Flag Iris. Sizeable branch off 1 of the huge Ash trees and that has put paid to 2 Tree Peonies. It is mornings like these I question why I try so hard to get the garden in good shape. Unusual to have gales at this time of the year. However, once the gale subsides I'll get out and clean up the mess. In the big scale of things a few broken plants isn't the end of the world just disappointing.:noidea:

Breezy, cool and very fine drizzle hardly worth mentioning. We could do with some rain.

Sorry to hear it's so rough with you @silu

Many thanks for the sympathy @JWK and @wiseowl. It really is blowing hard and with all my big trees in leaf it is a little on the scary side here atm:). We have moved the cars just in case some big branches or worse happens:yikes:. From the forecast it is about as bad as it is going to get and is meant to calm down relatively soon. I am having to go over The Tay Bridge today :yikes: it's open currently but preying they don't have to shut it because of the strength of the wind. Luckily it's not a high bridge like the ones over The Forth but bad enough.

Update both Tay and Forth Bridges shut now to everything. I wasn't exaggerating to say it's really fierce here...much swearing.

It is disappointing when you've put a lot of work in. We have strong winds and i hope the fruit on our trees stay on.

Thank you for your concern @wiseowl:grphg:. Yes battered but still in 1 piece. The gales have subsided and now it is just very windy. Sadly the garden is a mess. There are more leaves on the grass than in the Autumn:rolleyespink: plenty of small branches down, many shrubs looking very sad with wilted new season's growth and along with much of my herbaceous my Buddlejas have taken a serious pounding. Their stems have snapped off where they join the older wood.... not had this bad a damage ever before but such is life. No doubt by clearing the driveway and cutting the grass that will make things look a bit better. Everybody is safe and all our animals are ok so that's the most important. Dead crow in the driveway? no idea why and expect an awful lot of nests will have been blown down all over the north of England Scotland and Ireland where it's been really bad. This is certainly the worst gale we have had and worse than the few we have had during winter time over the 17 years we have lived here.
I'll be having a large glass of something to cheer myself up tonight:ccheers:. In comparison to the likes of FC I have very little to moan about:)

Sorry to hear you've had so much damage to your gardens @silu. There was me thinking the gale we've had today was a pussycat compared to the island. There's no major damage here just deadwood and leaves laying around.
