54f first thing this morning and 63f right now. This morning the skies were covered in a low dark grey cloud that seemed to consist of Bubbles.......very strange. This afternoon the skies are partly cloudy with the Sun showing every now and then, and there's no breeze; The Cat and I have just had to retreat from the Patio as there was a shower of big drops of rain, but I think it's stopped now so I'm heading back to the Patio with a Mug of tea:coffee::cat-kittyandsmiley:...................while the pressure reading is 998hpa

Kind of sunny with a few dark clouds blocking the sun every now and then, it then feels cool.

It did hit 22C for a short while.

                      Hi,

I've been having lots of fun. At dinnertime my computer died as did the mains power. The RCD had tripped so it was something major or just the mcb would have tripped; the RCD reset without trouble and I couldn't find anything at all wrong which puzzled me; the dinner was in the oven and the oven was hot with the interior light on so I discounted this.

Back on the computer and a short while later Bron said the dinner seemed to be taking a long time to cook? Yes the cooker oven element had decided to die; I've removed the element it being a five minute job and ordered a new Stoves genuine element with next day delivery from "espares" costing a total £40; non genuine elements are available for half price but I never skimp on quality after all it would most likely have cost the £40 for a service engineer to visit if I couldn't have done the repair.

If your oven dies may I suggest browsing YouTube before calling someone in; replacing a cooker oven element is generally an easy job only involving a screwdriver but TURN THE COOKER OFF AT THE SUPPLY FIRST. The element can usually be replaced from inside the oven and the oven model number will be on a label nearby.

espares here in the UK are excellent.

I had to visit the workshop twice and twice Blackie got me; now I'm indoors the sun is shining; twas ever thus. It's poured with rain here.

                      Kind regards, Colin.

That's strange Colin and hope that you had your dinner. Thanks for the info on oven spares, hubby has replaced a few things on the cooker, it's about 30 years old a belling classic electric oven.

                          Hi,

These things happen Logan and thanks; yes we had a quick change of menu; the cottage pie went into the bin but we opened a tin of corned beef to go with the veg steaming in the pressure cooker; we've used a pressure cooker for many years (Prestige high dome). I hope the spares info helps; I find espares very handy indeed. Our oven is a Stoves Panache at 22 years old and the only thing we've replaced over the years has been the Pygmy bulbs so we can't complain and this repair could have been done for as little as £20 doing it myself.

I'm having a really good time; first my TIG welder blew up so it's in bits whilst I repair it; the cooker oven has died and this is now in bits as I repair it and a short while ago Bron told me the bathroom fan heater had switched off on its own; its not all bad news though; I can fix the lot of them so bring it on I no longer care; all I wanted to do was to have a little bit of peace in order to practice TIG welding but it's increasingly difficult to get into the workshop to do what I want to do rather than do what I have to do.

Jobs lined up already for next week and mid week we have four new roller blinds being delivered that I'll need to trim and install; all this I can cope with but I wish Blackie would get lost and pester someone else. My toes curl every time I see a dry weather forecast wondering what the idiots are on about. If this is retirement I'd better get a full time job in order to have a rest.

                          Kind regards, Colin.

Hi Colin. I bought an Arc Welder back in the 80's.We had a head on crash. I was driving a Vauxhall 101 estate. Woman driver failed to stop at the juction on my right, I had right of way. I managed to get a scrap 101 and my mate, a top class mechanic. We cut the front end of the body off and welded it in place of my damaged one. Put the car in for MOT. The tester was very strict for those days. YEP it passed, but the tester was puzzled. Apparently when the 101 was made, there was a difference of about an 8th of an inch in height of the front wings. I made sure I had the Passed Certificate in my hand, and then explained what had happened. He shook my hand and said. I take my hat off to you. You've done a B good job.

At first I ended up burning the odd hole through the metal and at times ending up with bunches of grapes, where the weld hadn't flowed. Your TIC looks very much like the MIG.

Yesterday stayed sunny but by 5 p.m. the wind picked up and was quite chilly. As we were out at friends I can only guess at the temperature but it felt like the low to mid sixties F but felt warmer if sitting in the sun out of the wind.

They've actually forecast some rain for us for Tuesday night. I won't hold my breath as I'm sure Colin will grab it all! :heehee:
