Hi,

Such weather for us up north pete is taken for granted to the point I've got my own personal black cloud.

Unsurprisingly it's still raining and although light rain was forecast I enjoy a good joke.

I too am unable to cut our hedge mazambo but yesterday and the day before I attacked it before the rain set in taking lots of debris to the tip and shredding a big pile; if Blackie ever lets up I'll complete the job. I'm enjoying myself in the workshop restoring a Suffolk Colt petrol mower I bought a week ago so I'm not complaining.

Well, after last summer I stupidly thought I'd try a few melons outdoors, with a bit of protection, think I've made the wrong decision.
Got a couple in the cold frame though.

Living in The East Riding Of Yorkshire lolimac you'll be wrapped up like an Eskimo most of the year as I am? We have friends living in Brisbane who originate from Yorkshire and they are desperate for water; I can let them have a drop or two as I've got some spare?

I couldn't agree more with you lolimac.

A drop of antifreeze in our tea and there's no stopping us; only joking about the antifreeze though because I've known idiots daft enough to try it?

I tend to wear my parka the year round; our friends in Brisbane think its cold at 8C; 8C here is mid summer; it certainly was a couple of years ago as I made a garden hut in August still it hailed as well as poured with rain so everything was normal. It wouldn't be right if I was working in the garden without slimy slugs for company.

Southern softies would enjoy visiting Yorkshire during our two day long summer assuming we have a long summer.

Today I've been in the workshop with five 2' square LED panel lights switched on and had to use a hand inspection lamp in order to see the valve springs I was installing; summer in Yorkshire; what summer; global warming/climate change hasn't reach us.

Thanks pete. I'm sure had our local show gone ahead it would have turned out just like your show becoming a bog; I think it's finally stopped raining; perhaps I should sleep in the day and garden at night; I'm used to wearing a cap lamp having worked down a coal mine?

Will this rain ever let up?
