Rain has moved away now and blue sky to the north.
So a cold night in prospect.

 

Not much rain today, but the river keeps rising....

At 2.30pm today, the silver birch “marker” seems a strange choice!


And then again at 4.30pm...

 

@Sian in Belgium Whose greenhouse is that down there?

 

That’s my parents’ greenhouse. You can see that the hedge hasn’t been cut for ages.... There used to be a path between the hedge and the greenhouse.

 

At the moment a clear sky and moderate breeze temp 6c feels like 2c.

 

All is calm... Amber warning now downgraded to a yellow one.

The road and bridge around the corner from us that leads to the River Itchen has been closed.
Flood barriers are up along the road leading to where hubs use to work as the river has burst it's banks up there too there

The flood area along our lane has created a fast moving little river that is now running off through the woods at considerable speed!!

Gosh its certainly been a weekend to remember!!

 

Quick update:
Too dark for photos, but the river is just under 40cm higher than in the 16.30 photo, and still rising...

 

The rain and wind is endless, just an occasional dry day over the last months. I live on a hill and noticed this morning standing water in the neighbouring field, I've not seen that before.

Yesterday and today no change, more wind and rain, and as far as I can see there is no let up before the end of the month and beyond. Another storm is due next weekend and at the moment looks as though it will cut across the middle and top half of Britain. 4C/39F

Where I walk the boys the path is still flooded, i managed to walk on the edge of it but i still got my feet wet a bit. Usually it goes down but not this time.

 

7pm yesterday, one hell of a hail storm very strong gusts of wind

4c wet and less windy

 

Sunny and calm here ,expected high of 11C. Light rain could be on it's way later. But for now...
