Sun breaking up cloud (but there is one dark cloud), breezy, 11c going to 18c and there may be a shower somewhere.

Totally ghastly. One of the worst hard frosts at this time of the year I have ever experienced. I do not even want to go into the garden as I know all my Magnolias, Pieris Camellias, Tree Peonies, early flowering Rhododendrons, oh the list goes on! will be ruined. Soul destroying but in comparison to what is going on it Ukraine the damage is of little consequence. That well know expression “ there is always next year”comes to mind:rolleyespink:

3 deg, climbing to a high of 5, and depressingly, nothing higher than 9 for the next two weeks according to the Beeb. Perfect timing for energy price rises…

Well we like to hope there is anyway. ;)
This is becoming more of a trend in recent years, give us a nice warm spell to get all the plants moving and then throw in a bad cold snap to wipe out all the new growth.
This is where @CanadianLori is so lucky.

It's been snowing/sleeting heavily for the last half hour.
Nothing settling, the wind is freezing.

I think I'm going to dig out a tin of soup from the back of the cupboard, got scones and clotted cream lined up for later.

@pete ... you put a curse on me by mentioning the spring tease. :paladin: It is 57f 14c Yes, that is what it is. At first I thought the thermometer had broken but no, the news station confirms this! And then we will go back into the cold... :gaah:
GIANT CORRECTION about the current temps AT BOTTOM

As a by the way, I plan to start moving plants into the greenhouse on or slightly before the ides of April. By then, the heater will only have to kick in at night to raise the temperature from 32f 0c. That small amount of heating should be affordable. :fingers crossed:

CORRECTION: Okay, it is not 14c - I was reading the temperature transmitted from a warmer than outdoor spot but weird as it is - the high today is going to be 14c so that is what I read when I glanced at the TV. It is 39f 4c which is still great compared to what is coming!

It's stopped snowing and dried up but now it's gale force wind that is the problem.
